AlumaSafway is currently recruiting all level Insulators to join our team in Vancouver/Lower Mainland, BC.
1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year Apprentices and Journeyman Insulators
Journeyman level MUST be ticketed
Long term employment – approx. 1 year +
5x8s schedule, OT available when applicable
Preference will be given to local candidates
Work based at Vancouver shipyards in North Vancouver
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Apply, remove and repair thermal and acoustical insulation (e.g. calcium silicate, glass foam, mineral wool, Styrofoam, fiberglass, armflex) on all types of industrial equipment (e.g. duct piping, heat exchangers, tanks, vessels).
Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine insulation requirements.
Select the amount and type of insulation to be installed as well as a method of securing the insulation (e.g. pin welding, wiring, banding, taping) according to the type and shape of surface, whether or not the equipment is cold or hot, inside or outside, and what the equipment is going to be used for.
Measure and cut insulating material and coverings to the required shape and dimension, as well as fitting insulation around obstructions or shape insulation materials and protective coverings
Install vapour barriers & finish insulated surfaces by applying metal cladding, canvas, PVC or cement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
All level Apprentices , Journeyman Insulators MUST be ticketed.
CSTS 2020, Fall Protection, and Confined Space certifications required.
Ability to read and understand blue prints, P&ID’s, piping insulation specifications.
This position is a union position.
